Based on the principles of equity, fairness and justice, we do not support Donald Trump for US President. He has demonstrated on many different occasions an inability to care whether or not he tells the truth. We are concerned that he purposely incites his supporters to commit acts of violence against other US citizens, which is immoral and inappropriate for a United States President. He has made racist and sexist comments directed at Women, Mexicans, Blacks, Muslims and Native Americans. He will not treat Native Americans fairly, especially if he views us as insignificant. We cannot afford to have a leader such as Trump as it will impact our homelands, our cultures and our children in a negative manner. In high likelihood, damage will be done to our historical, trust relationship with the Federal Government.
Donald Trump has been deemed:
- “a unique threat to American democracy” by the Washington Post’s Editorial Board, July 22, 2016
- “a man far more consumed with himself than with the nation’s well-being” New York Times Editorial Board Sept 25, 2016
- “unfit for the presidency” USA Today Editorial Board, Sept 30, 2016
- “The 2016 Republican candidate is not conservative and he is not qualified.” Arizona Republic Editorial Sept 27,2016
Thus, we encourage Native Americans to vote for Hillary Clinton. She has served as the US Secretary of State, a New York Senator, and is an attorney. Hillary has a strong policy background with a history of supporting working class people. She has realistic experience in implementing policies and finding solutions to existing problems.
There are only two Presidential Candidates in the 2016 General Election that could possibly win.
Gary Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico has not been able to break the 15% level of support to be considered for the Presidential debates. He remains at 8% and Jill Stein is at 1%.
Native Americans should vote to win. We ask you to vote for Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump must not win.
